The March 1969 issue of MotorSport magazine signed by Roger Penske details the 1969 running of the 24 Hours of Daytona held on February 1-2, 1969.


This race was won by Mark Donohue and Chuck Parsons driving the # 6 Roger Penske entered Sunoco Lola T70 which is featured on the cover. The cover shows Roger Penske standing by the open door giving Mark Donohue some last minute instructions.


Despite 31 pit stops and over two hours in the pits for repairs (exhaust, starter) the Penske Lola won by 30 laps leading a Lola 1-2 finish ahead of the # 8 James Garner owned American International Racing (AIR) team Lola T70 driven by Ed Leslie and Lothar Motschenbacher.
