Description:
You are bidding on an original antique handwritten manuscript document titled "Springfield Township" dated to the 1860s, presenting a numbered list of approximately 20 local residents accompanied by their occupations and what appears to be a character or voter eligibility attestation.
The document opens with a preamble describing the listed individuals as men of good character — intelligent, Democrats, and residents of the township. Occupations listed include Blacksmith, Laborer, Farmer, Tanner, Teacher, and Stonecutter, among others. The list is signed at the bottom by what appears to be William Hewit, Esq., with a closing attestation affirming the above are men of good standing.
The document is written on aged lined paper with the foxing, toning, and patina consistent with mid-19th century manuscripts. Some names are partially illegible due to period handwriting style and age-related fading, but the overall document is remarkably intact.
Condition: Good antique condition. Toning, foxing, and minor staining consistent with age. No tears. Document lies flat.
A wonderful piece of American local history — ideal for collectors of Civil War–era Americana, genealogical researchers, or Pennsylvania/Ohio regional history enthusiasts.
