(July 1986) Reading issue GD/VG Individual comics are sent in board backed envelopes with a piece of recycled cardboard so that the comic is sandwiched, and away from the corners. Multiple comics are sent boxed. Newsagent marks / cover writing With older comics sold in the UK around 50% had newsagent marks, i.e. cover writing. In the UK, comics and newspapers were reserved (or reserved and delivered) by local newsagent shops and the newsagents wrote the customer's names are sometimes the addresses on the covers. There were often delivered by paper boys and girls. Writing was either in pen or pencil, and occasionally markers or felt tip pens.
