This appears to be a vintage brass table lamp, possibly a Stiffel or similar make, designed in a 

classic candlestick or Empire style. Light works perfect. 

It features an adjustable vertical pole with a lock knob. Picture #5 shows the imprinted metal tag that reads: 

Made In Italy. Approx. 20.5" H x 8.5" W. Base is approx. 6" in diameter.

The lamp has a fabric shade with decorative trim and a candle-style light bulb fitting. The shade can be moved up & down on the pole. 

The base is solid brass with a traditional, turned design. I tested it with a magnet and there is no magnetism at all.

The style is consistent with lamps from the mid-20th century.
