This is an outstanding find of a rare, working, lightly used, old anniversary clock that was created about 65 years ago in St Georgen "Germany” by "Kieninger und Obergfell" for their “Kundo” line of fine timepieces. Kundo is the marketing name for Kieninger und Obergfell and they have created some of the finest clocks ever produced. I remember my father brought home a Kundo anniversary clock just like this one right after WWII. I used to watch it rotate back and forth and was always fascinated to see it in action. This clock reminds me so much of those days and it’s of the highest quality as well. This rare clock is made of brasstone metal and the base is finished in satin black with several colorful rose and floral sprays on it; very nice! There are three adjustable levelers under the case for balancing the rotating pendulum to work on just about any level surface. The clock base outside the dome is still quite vibrant and has the beginnings of a very nice patina. The inside protected area is still very shiny. There are two metal pillars supporting the clock mechanism and both have a satin black base and more colorful flowers; even have shiny finials on the tops. The top of the dial has a shiny brasstone metal crown with three more finials on the top. There is a four ball shiny brasstone pendulum suspended from the movement by a metal wire. The dial is another work of art sporting even more colorful flowers and trimmed on the outer and inner chapter ring with shiny brass metal trim. There are also large embossed brass numerals marking the hours and matching fancy metal hands to point out the time. The clock is fitted with a key wind, mechanical movement that lasts for about a year on a single wind which explains in part why it’s referred to as an anniversary clock. I set the clock up, wound it from the stem on the back, and let it go. The pendulum rotates back and forth just beautifully and has worked perfectly here for nearly a month. The clock also keeps good time too though being an old clock, some adjustments or service may be required once the clock arrives at its new home. We always advise our clock customers to service their antique or vintage clocks at least once every three years. Doing so will preserve a classic clock like this one and keep it healthy for years to come. The clock comes complete as shown with a clear lucite dome cover and the winding key. I’ve looked the clock over fairly well and can’t find any damage or repairs. It's in remarkable condition and the ideal size too measuring about 12” high with the dome in place and about 8” across the base. This clock would be the focal point in any collection and is certain to impress anyone seeing it in your home, office or wherever it is that you care to showcase a magnificent German timepiece with a fabulous legacy behind it.
