Original 1869 Iowa land deed for property in Cedar Rapids, Linn County.

Antique handwritten real estate document dated 1869, conveying a parcel in Cedar Rapids and bearing an original 50-cent U.S. Internal Revenue Conveyance stamp still affixed at lower left. The document appears to reference Lot 9, Block 4 and Washington Street, and is signed by R. C. Jackson and Polly Jackson.

The attached 50¢ documentary revenue stamp is consistent with federal conveyance tax rates used on real estate transfers in this value range during the Civil War-era revenue period, adding both historical and collector appeal. 

Condition:

• small tears and paper loss at upper edge

• filing holes at side

• stamp remains attached

• handwriting remains readable overall
