WWII U.S. Army Signal Corps BC-611-E “Handie Talkie” Radio Receiver-Transmitter

Imagine the history behind this baby! The object in the listing is a vintage BC-611-C Radio Receiver and Transmitter, famously known as the U.S. Army Signal Corps "Handie-Talkie". Developed in 1940 by Galvin Manufacturing (now Motorola) for infantry use. It was the first true self-contained handheld radio transceiver, powered by internal LT and HT batteries. It operated on a single channel (selected from 50) using Amplitude Modulation (AM) within the 80-meter shortwave radio band. The effective range was approximately 1 to 3 miles with the antenna fully extended, though this was reduced to roughly 100-200 feet if the antenna was shortened. Why not own a piece of US history today!
