Hi I am selling some of my odd items I have collected over the years. Here is a Vintage Rare WW1 Bronze Death Penny in original Cardboard Case for Sergeant James Arthur Lee, service no. 3/1747 a soldier who served in the British Army during World War I (1914-1918). The Death Penny was a commemorative plaque given to the families of fallen soldiers. This particular item was manufactured in the United Kingdom and is a significant piece of militaria collectable from that era.
James Arthur Lee served with the 8th Bn., Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and died on 19th March 1916 aged 24. He was the son of James & Rebecca Lee of Leeds and husband of Beatrice Alice Lee of 14 Glendale Terrace, East End Park, Leeds. He is remembered with honour at Y Farm Military Cemetery, Bois- Grenier. Is showing some signs of patina but otherwise in good condition.
