This is another fantastic antique that I am selling for a client of mine that we recently moved. We were hired by an estate to ship a bunch of stuff to England, where this family is from and to consign a bunch of stuff that was no longer needed. But this stuff is gorgeous and it’s all old antiques. so if you’ve been following me, you’ve probably seen that i have listed a bunch and many have already sold. All with positive feedback.
This desk is stunning. It does need a little bit of TLC. The obvious flaws; there’s chips scratches some of the veneer has kind of a worn and rubbed little bit. The back and right side of the desk suffered what I call heat damage. It was against the wall that had a heater below it. So it unfortunately it dried the wood up. I did put the first coat of oil on it. I think overtime if you continue to oil the mahogany it’ll come out a little bit. It will never be perfect without being sanded and refinished.it just looks like a darker area and there is a texture to it somewhat like sandpaper. You can also see by the video that the doors are sticking a little bit. I did spray a little bit of oil on the brass balls that control it, therefore it’s opening and closing with a little bit more ease. I think overtime it might loosen if you continue to care for this. Most importantly, the leather top is in great condition. I say most importantly because that’s kind of the foundation of the desk. A couple small scratches but nothing major. Nothing is torn and it appears that it was well cared for. I think I’ve taken enough pictures to guide you to figure out if this is for you or not. I often get a lot of emails asking for more and more pictures. I just don’t and can’t do it on a whim folks. I try the best I can. I don’t hide anything. I took a video around it and I’ve used up all the pictures that are available. I will gladly answer any questions pertaining to logistics, but I cannot keep pulling things out to picture them over and over again when I really feel like I’ve done sufficient job. This last came from a smoke free home.
Logistics with furniture on eBay can be tricky. One of the more frustrating things I deal with. There are truly three options to obtain big items like this desk. First local pick up. It is available in Brookfield, Connecticut, and we can pretty much make it happen seven days a week. Second, you can use a third-party shipping company such as uship.com and obtain a quote prior to purchasing the desk so that you know how much shipping is going to cost you. Third you can ask me where I might be heading next. As a mover I do travel all over the country. I give two options the first as you can meet me along my route and I usually will not charge anything for that. Typically mega truckstop or arrest area. Second option you can actually pay me to deliver it to you. Prices can be established based on how far off my route I need to go. the big flaw with my delivery services timing. It will not happen right away. That’s why I mention I’m coming up on trips going to California and most likely Texas soon we always go up and down the East Coast more regularly than we do out west. So you are welcome to email me and ask me. as far as emailing me to ask me about freight prices, I understand the eBay wants you to do that. However, we can’t establish freight prices. Those are third-party services. And you really need to do that research on your own. I am only bringing these things off ahead of time because as this company I started grows more and more. I’m getting more and more emails and I don’t want people to feel that I’m ignoring them. The real reality is I’m getting so many it’s hard to keep up. And that’s why I’m trying to set some boundaries with my listings going forward Being blunt and upfront as to what to expect. I do hope you can respect that.
