Antique German Doll Sleepy Eyes Mechanism for Doll Repair, c1930 (b)

This mechanical doll eye mechanism was used for ‘sleepy eyes’ that open and close automatically when the doll is tilted.

It features two round brown eyeballs with eyelashes on metal rockers, spindles, a clamp and a bisque weight designed to sit inside a dolls head.

The mechanism measures approx. 6.1cm by 5.5cm, the eyes are 1.9cm in diameter.

The mechanism is typical of those originating in Germany.

These parts are often sought after for doll restoration projects.
