Here's an uncommon Chicago Film Perforator manufactured ca. 1915 by B.F. Cummins, whose rugged battle-tested Chicago Check Perforators were in widespread use throughout the teens, twenties and thirties. 

Like the Chicago Check Perforator, the Chicago Film Perforator punched out large numbers and symbols by making tiny perforations in the surface of a filmstrip, typically on the leader and the tail, so the projectionist could quickly determine what the reel contained. 

Condition is very good, and it still works. You simply slide the film beneath the punch wheel, select a number or symbol, then depress the handle.
