Husqvarna Viking Designer 1 Sewing / Embroidery Machine, Case and Power Cable

I do not have the pedal/presser foot.  The machine powers on and the screen works as it should.  The sewing arm moves up and down with selections but then gives me an error for not having any thread in the machine (I don't know how to thread it). 

I have not tested it with a presser foot.

Machine is very clean and appears to have been well taken care of.  The protective case has scuffs, is yellowed and has a small crack in the back.
