Jean Cocteau (1889-1963) referred to himself as a poet and, indeed, he was. But he was also a prolific artist, novelist, playwright and film director. He was one of the most avant-garde artists of the twentieth century, highly influential in the Dadaist and Surrealist movements, among others.

This wonderful book explores his life and illustrates the diversity of his work through 194 illustrations, most of which are im full color. It also puts him in context with other leading modern artists such as Picasso and Modigliani. It is an absolutely stimulating visual treasure. The book itself is like new, The dustjacket has some minor ruffles to the edges.
