A vintage but clean and fully working Stanley No. 9 1/2 block plane, made in England. Body & sole are free of pitting, plate adjustment post is secure, the left hand thread depth adjustment wheel runs smoothly, lateral alignment lever locates and adjusts properly, the lever cap secures well.
On the downside, the eccentric lever to adjust the mouth is missing (not uncommon) but the mouth slides without binding and can still be easily adjusted and locked in place with the knob. The casting the knob screws into has a bit of damage, but there is plenty of thread left to work with-see images for details.
The other minor issue is that the iron is in the later part off its life at 9cm long but it is old steel and keeps a very good edge-see the final images for curls from some very hard mahogany.
In summary then, this is more of a workshop workhorse than a collection queen but there will be no unpleasant surprises and if you prefer using your vintage hand tools to looking at them, this presents excellent value.
