Region - Sheffield
Brand - Wade & Butcher
Width - 6/8"
Grind - Quarter Hollow
Scales - Horn

This straight razor revival is a hair under 6/8". Quarter Hollow  grind with a muted square point. Cleaned to remove oxidation from the spots of pitting on the blade. Signs of pitting and usual micro scratches remain on the blade and tang. No jimping on the tang. There is medium hone wear on the spine. Tang stamp is mostly clear but some letters missing. At 140 years plus this unique Wade & Butcher is nicely restored with original horn scales in good condition (small chips and beginning to show delamination at the edges). Brass bushing installed in the pivot hole to eliminate slop between the blade and pivot pin. With flattened brass pivot washers the pivot action is very smooth and the blade supports it's own weight closing centered between the scales.Care should be taken when closing to ensure blade does not wander to one side.

Note for beginners:

I recommend this 6/8" razor as a good size for beginners. This blade is honed and shave ready using 1 layer of electrical tape and finished on a Llyn Idwal. Shave test gave a nice comfortable shave performing as a stiffer grind should with quiet cutting of whiskers. The square point is muted. The wider tang makes for a more secure grip while stropping.
