DESCRIPTION: Buyer will receive the EXACT high handle antique ash splint round basket shown in the photographs. Nothing else included or implied.

This is a Native American basket made for sale to the commercial trades (as opposed to a tourist basket). These baskets were made to be used on farms and fishing docks etc. Later commercial baskets have flat splint nailed rims. On this basket every other splint is turned over at rim and tucked under on the outside. Typical of Maine Indian made baskets, rim is 1/2 round inside and flat splint outside and double rim wrapped with thin ash splints. Handle is hand carved and light tool marks can be seen. Likely made late 19th to early 20th century. Collected in south coastal Maine.

SIZE: 8.5” diameter x 4.75” tall at rim and 10” tall at handle

CONDITION REPORT: Used. Antique. Almost perfect but 2 small breaks right next to each other (photographed with green pencil pointer). Handle is somewhat asymmetrical. Basket is dry but sturdy, nothing loose. Very clean condition.
