What You Will Receive:

The Mila 4500 Multipoint Extendable was generally classed as a 3 part door lock. I:E The central lock and faceplate, and the 2 number 620mm extension pieces 1 to top and 1 to bottom when connected together, made a full length lock with 4 rollers. When the metal silver plated packer was connected to the lock and faceplate it made it the 28mm backset and quite often the metal faceplate had stamped inside it 4500 28 ZP which can only be seen with the faceplate removed. The lock was available in other backset dimensions but are all now discontinued other than this.
It is quite easy to mix this up with the more common Mila UPVC Door Lock Case Gear Box (our part reference 558). However, when you look at the detailed dimensional drawing shown below in the thumbnail pictures you will easily see that the linkage points are different and in different positions.
This is the Single Spindle Sprung version with a latch. If your gearbox has an offset crank linkage part on it please see the main picture description below for details of how to accommodate it. You may find that the faceplate is stamped with Mila on the faceplate, the door gear is the same and was manufactured by Mila in all cases. This is the centre gearbox only that connects to the faceplate. Generally you will find that by replacing the centre gearbox that this is all you have to do.

It is normally the lockcase that fails so by simply changing the old case you will be able to restore your lock to full operation again.

We have found on some of the older existing gearboxes that the deadbolt that is pushed out when the key is turned was ever so slightly bigger than the new replacement one. In some cases it feels as though the key lock will not turn and fully engage. To this end usually by running a flat file round the deadbolt hole (approx 5-10 times all 4 sides) on the faceplate to open the hole and finish with a big blob of vaseline or grease that you will find it works much easier. This does not effect any of our guarantees.
