Description:

Layne Catherine Anderson (Albuquerque, New Mexico, XX-XXI century) is a contemporary artist based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She studied art at Western New Mexico University and is known for being an artist-in-residence at Blind Cat's Bad Acid Art Company. She was an artist active in the early 1970s, recognized for her work in the Chinook newspaper in 1972. She created the front-page artwork for the newspaper's final issue published on Valentine's Day in 1972.

This is one of three painting I recently bought by the artist at a local estate. The painting is a watercolor on paper depicting a surreal portrait of woman with horse and rider with flag. The painting is entitled lower left "Pilgrim", it is signed and dated lower right "Layne Catherine Anderson '73". The painting is housed in a silvery gilt wooden molding frame with salmon red mat and protective glass front. I took the painting apart to re-tab and clean, no further information was found.

Measures; image size 12" x 14 3/4", framed 19" x 21"

Condition:

The painting with some puckering to paper as it is a watercolor, some minor spotting outside line from artist hand and frame with minor wear to the silvery finish with minor wood checks. Overall a very nice package in very good condition. Please view all photos as they are part of the description.

My name is Kevin Bruneau and I have been in the fine arts and collectibles business for over 30 years. I've owned antique shops, auction houses, a consignment shop, and even did a TV reality show hunting down collectible treasures. Today I travel hundreds of miles per week to find interesting pieces to bring to my BKCranston eBay site. Most items are sourced from local house-calls, auctions, and estate tag and yard sales. My interests are broad so you will never know what I will list next. It could be an old master paintings or a baseball card collection. Be sure to check in often, as my store and auction offerings are forever growing and changing with fun and interesting new inventory.
