George Wostenholm's Celebrated Cutlery I•XL Civil War Era Officer's Mess Kit. The kit is made of a cardboard like material with a leathery appearance.  The top of the lid is missing, as is the attachment strap. The base has a metal cup with no markings. The cup has an insert mase with four slots for utensils. The middle slot has a spice holder made of bone. There are four pieces that screw together. The other three slots are occupied by folding / spring knife, fork and spoon. All have mother of pearl handles. The knife is marked WOSTENHOLM'S CELEBRATED I•XL CUTLERY. The butt end of the knife has a piece like a flat tip screw driver. I suspect this  was used to pry open cans. The spoon and fork are marked with pseudo hallmarks. They are G W & Co S. I believe the S denotes Sheffield. The fork has a corkscrew attachment. All pieces are in excellent condition and work as intended. No damage or issues except those noted to the case. An unusual and excellent item from one of the preeminent cutlers of England.
