"The Trinity of Chance" takes you right into the
exciting, risky world of Old West gambling. This artwork is a tribute to three
popular gambling games of the period including Faro, Poker and Dice.
Every piece, from the period clay poker chips, the replica
derringer and pocket watch to the historical money, tells a story of taking
chances and how close people were to winning big or losing everything. It's a
look back at a time when one game could change a person's whole life, capturing
the real feeling of luck and destiny.
Faros is a game where the spade cards are laid out from ace
up to the king to form the betting board. Each player was given chips for
betting and a penny. The dealer would
turn two cards over at a time. The first card is the losing card, and the
second card is the winning card. Players with chips on the losing card will
lose their bet. Players with chips on
the winning card will win their bet.
Players could place multiple bets and could bet on multiple cards
simultaneously by placing their bet between cards or on specific card edges. Very similar to roulette play. Both Wyatt Earp and dentist and gambler John
"Doc" Holliday dealt Faro in Tombstone, Arizona
Draw 5 is the most popular game of poker where each player receives
5 cards face down and then places their bets. Each player has 1 opportunity to
draw new cards to replace the ones they don't want, and then there's another
round of betting. A player wins the pot if everyone else folds or if they have
the best hand.
High-Low is a simple betting game played with two dice where
players wager on whether the sum of a roll will be Low (2-6), High (8-12), or
exactly Seven.
This piece is perfect for anyone that loves the old west or
is a fan of these gambling games!
