A Canon 1014 camcorder sold for parts or not working. I acquired this as part of a job lot of cameras.
I’ve sold a few of these in the past and can usually get them to work, but this one won’t work and needs work. I noticed immediately that two screws are missing from the body and the diopter slider knob is also missing (can still be moved with something pointy).
It looks like somebody (not me) started to take this apart, but stopped before they realised it might be more complicated.
What I do know about it:-
Although the battery contacts are clean in both compartments, I can’t get the battery indicator to show any battery life despite new batteries. The shutter does not operate. The telephoto ‘wide’ and ’tele’ buttons create a noise, but the lens group does not move despite the noise.
Perhaps this will provide a source of spare parts or act as a sacrificial camera to dismantle in order to understand how to fix them.
