A first edition copy of Ross' account of his privately funded, steam-powered expedition with nephew James Clark Ross to find the North-West passage, detailing his crew's survival through four Arctic winters, scientific discoveries (including the Northern Magnetic Pole), valuable Inuit interactions, and charting of the Boothia Peninsula, despite failing to find the passage itself. 

     This copy bears significant wear and lacks its frontispiece, otherwise remaining complete. See condition notes for further details.
