KATO HO Scale D51 Steam Locomotive Standard Type 1-203 Japanese Train Model JP

Description

KATO HO Scale D51 Steam Locomotive (Standard Production Type, circa 1970)

This model represents the standard mass-production type of the D51 steam locomotive as seen on warm, flatland lines around the late 1960s to early 1970s (Showa 40s).

It accurately reproduces the realistic appearance of this warm-climate version, featuring a deflector with inspection windows, no snow plow, and a square-front cab without round windows.

Recreates the version after the steam exhaust pipe covers on the sides of the boiler were removed.

Includes two selectable smokebox door handles: standard two-lever type and cross-shaped type.

Realistic detailing with a three-dimensional underframe, matte black driving wheels, and finely detailed motion rods that capture the locomotive’s powerful mechanism both visually and in operation.

Headlight lights up, replicating the LP403 type. Rear light (LP42 type) is non-illuminated.

Equipped with both standard 250W turbine generator and 150W ATS generator, with exhaust pipe pre-installed.

The tender reproduces distinctive features visible from the rear, including end beam details, ATS transponder, and brake assembly between the bogies.

Powered by a coreless motor unit for smooth and stable operation.

Includes optional number plates for customization: “354,” “468,” “645,” and “739.”

Compatible with the optional [KATO 7-104 (HO) D51 Upgrade Parts Set], which allows further detailing such as handrails, marker lights, snow plow, nameplates, and other custom markings.

Minimum operating curve radius: 21.7 inches (R550).

Made in Japan – precision quality by KATO.
