Yard-O-Led pens are perhaps the world's best in their value range. Every pen is handcrafted at the company's Birmingham, England workshop by a very small group of supremely talented silversmiths; some of the workshop's tools are 50 to 60 years old, and the finished products bespeak old-world craftsmanship.
Overall excellent condition with mild wear throughout, not inked but silver quite patinated and in need of a good polishing, some handling scratches to section.
The pen is elegantly presented in a decorative wood display box (some wear to outside) and matching numbered booklet/certificate. No outer box.
An impressive Yard-O-Led pen made to high standard of quality.
Excerpt from the booklet:
Only once in every 1000 years are we privileged to celebrate a new Millennium.
In celebration, Yard-O-Led has handcrafted 366 exclusive solid silver fountain pens - each representing one day of the Millennium year.
Inspired by late Victorian and Early Edwardian periods each Millennium fountain pen reflects the elaborate styling of the times.
A heavily fluted barrel and cap accentuate the grand style of the fountain pen. Embossed, decorative ring sections capture the trimmings of style and opulence, which are ever present in Yard-O-Led writing instruments.
Every fountain pen has be samped with a special Millennium silver hallmark as approved by the British Assay Office.
This hallmark can only be stamped on solid silver writing instruments for a limited time: 1999 - 2000.
Since the early 19th Century, Yard-O-Led has used traditional craftsmanship and production techniques. This time honoured craftsmanship is still maintained today,
taking the quality of Yard-O-Led into the new millennium.
With a skilled workforce, Yard-o-Led is the only british company that still specialises in handcrafted silver and gold writing instruments to a standard established in the 19th century.
