Offered is a lot of fifteen authentic Colonial-era cast pewter buttons, all recovered by metal detecting. These buttons date primarily to the 18th century (1700s) and were commonly used on civilian clothing during the Colonial period.
The group shows mixed sizes and conditions, typical for dug pewter relics: • Several retain partial or intact cast shanks • Others have damaged or missing shanks • Surfaces range from relatively smooth to pitted, cracked, or edge-worn • Natural gray pewter patina throughout
No harsh cleaning or restoration has been performed—only light rinsing after recovery.
