RARE 925 Sterling Solid Silver Communion Chalice & Paten Gifted by H. Viner-Ellis to The Congregational Church in Adsett, Gloucestershire for Whitsunday 1884. Weighing 450g in total.

It is believed that this was gifted by the famous Viner-Ellis Family based in Minsterworth near Gloucester. This church no longer exists. Most notable in the family was George Viner Ellis, a well renowned anatomist and author. The family were significant landowners in the area and also gifted land to build the Memorial Hall in Minsterworth.

I believe the chalice has hallmarks for Walker John & Barnard 1882 and the paten has hallmarks for Henry John Lias & James Wakely 1883.

Both pieces have some surface wear from use with light scratches, and the Chalice has a small dent at the back on the bottom of the bowl of the chalice. The paten has no dents. There is some tarnishing in crevices on the underside of the rim of the chalice.

The chalice measures 20cm tall and the paten measures 18cm diameter.
