Historic PGA Tour Participant Treasures from the Worldwide Collectibles Specialistis at Saturday's Toys... presents an original t-shirt from the Coca-Cola 1983 Coca-Cola Grand Slam golf tournament in Chiyoda, Japan. The shirt was awarded to participating golfer for presentation to a spouse, family member or other personal guest at the event. Gold ink (with shimmering effect was used to imprint the shirt's design.
The event's winner was Gene Littler with 276 (won by 2 strokes).
The PGA event for senior professionals was held during the final week of October in 1983.
Shirt was evidently offered to participants in only one size; as the gold label on the front of the shirt is translated as "Free Size" (implying that "one size" fits most). Clearly, the shirt appears to be somewhat oversized (possibly provided for use at pool side); but is not offered here for fit/size... but is offered as a pristine golf collectible from this early PGA tournament held in Japan.
Assumed to be made of lightweight 100% Cotton, though we find no indication as to fabric content on original tags. Wash in 40 degree water; no bleach (as per labels)
Additional players at the event included:
From the estate collection of a prominent Napa Valley family.
Saturday’s Toys and Collectibles was founded in 1994 by Southern California author and media historian, Dave Mason. Soon after eBay's launch the following year, Saturday's Toys was among the first online specialists to strategize in embracing this rapidly developing technology. Having delivered over 16,000 coveted treasures since that time, Saturday's Toys is pleased to partner with researchers and collectors throughout the globe.
Today, online offerings of archival keepsakes are presented in celebration of the times that allow for family, friends and neighbors to join in memorable gatherings that nurture the strong connections that bind a community together. These treasures are affectionately represented by "Saturday's Toys." In that light we present our adopted motto (with a nod to the Sherman Brothers): "Oh, let's go fly a kite!"
