About The Kit Wilson Trust
How it all started 
The Kit Wilson Trust was founded in 1975, following a legacy left by Katherine Wilson, affectionately known as 'Kit'; a respected cat show judge and passionate advocate for animal welfare. Her vision was clear: to create a lasting impact for animals in need.
From the very beginning, the Trust has championed the importance of spaying and neutering pets to reduce the number of unwanted animals. While we continue to rescue and rehome cats and dogs, our deeper mission is to help prevent the cycle of abandonment and euthanasia still seen today.
What we do
What began as a small initiative has grown into a dedicated animal welfare charity with a fully operational Rescue Centre in Hadlow Down, near Uckfield, East Sussex (established in 1986).
Alongside rescuing and rehoming cats and dogs, we're deeply involved in wildlife rehabilitation and run a dedicated emergency helpline for animals in distress.
Our Rescue Centre has also become a safe, lifelong home for animals who cannot be rehomed, including horses, donkeys, cats, goats, birds, and small mammals. Every animal in our care is treated with compassion and respect, for as long as they need us.
