Here is a really interesting watch from the 1850's. It is an early, handmade watch from the Joseph Jacot family, a well-respected family of expert watchmakers. There is a street named after them in Locle, Sweden where they lived and made these watches. The watch is 50mm (2 inches) in diameter. It has 3 hinged covers and is a key wind, key set early type of mechanical movement. The watch, winds and runs a little, but the mainspring is broken, so it will require a repair to get it running. We have included a new key with the watch that winds it. The original glass front crystal and the porcelain dial are intact and the overall condition of the watch is excellent. The back inside dust cover is silver plated copper, which was common at the time. There is an old US 1849 braided hair large cent coin included with this lot. We sell these watches as we buy them, as is, with some dirt, minor marks or minor damages from typical use. Please look over the pictures.
