Classic Entertainment Autographs from Saturday's Toys presents... a vintage signed / autographed photo of legendary entertainer Glen Campbell (1936 - 2017); host of the highly rated "Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" series from 1969 - 1972. Campbell went on to star with John Wayne in his Academy Award winning role in "True Grit" (1969), singing the Oscar nominated theme song for the film.
Signed with black felt pen at lower left corner: "To Lisa - Love you, Glen Campbell"
This rarely seen photo from that publicity session was taken to the new single "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" (1967), his follow-up to "Gentle on My Mind" (1967). Both songs went on to win two Grammy Awards and the following year, "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1968.
The photo measures 8" x 10.25" and was mounted on a cardboard mat for added strength and durability.
The former recipient had tacked it to a wall or bulletin board after it was received in the mid-1970's. The photo was provided to her when her father, a PGA pro golfer throughout the 1960's - 1980's, played at the Glen Campbell Los Angeles Open at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California.
Good condition overall with pin-holes at top margin and at lower corners. Some surface loss is evident at center of top margin (near pin holes) and at bottom center (unknown cause); all of which can be easily hidden during framing.
A classic image from the early years of Glen Campbell's career as one of country and contemporary music's most popular crossover entertainers.
Acquired directly from the personal sports collection of a prominent Napa Valley estate.
Saturday’s Toys and Collectibles was founded in 1994 by Southern California author and media historian, Dave Mason. Soon after eBay's launch the following year, Saturday's Toys was among the first online specialists to strategize in embracing this rapidly developing technology. Having delivered over 16,000 coveted treasures since that time, Saturday's Toys is pleased to partner with researchers and collectors throughout the globe.
Today, online offerings of archival keepsakes are presented in celebration of the times that allow for family, friends and neighbors to join in memorable gatherings that nurture the strong connections that bind a community together. These treasures are affectionately represented by "Saturday's Toys." In that light we present our adopted motto (with a nod to the Sherman Brothers): "Oh, let's go fly a kite!"
We are glad to combine shipping for multiple purchases in order to reduce costs whenever possible. Simply let us know before processing payment for the items selected and we'll be glad to revise and forward a final invoice to reflect the combined shipping price.
This usually works most effectively when combining flat paper items (postcards, newsletters, ephemera, etc.) but we'll do our best to make any combined purchase provide your best value for shipping.
Customer dissatisfaction with buyer fees for the eBay International Shipping program has led us to cease all international shipments for the foreseeable future. eBay has opted to support international buyers who leave false feedback about sellers charging excessive fees for the eBay International Shipping program (formerly known as the eBay Global Shipping program). eBay is well aware that sellers have nothing to do with setting prices for their international shipping program and that the prices are 100% controlled only by eBay. In that light, we have opted out of the program and can no long participate.
We are now accepting select consignments of interest to our network of domestic and international collectors. We offer a sliding scale of consignment proceeds that are based on the sale price of each item, with each sale earning consignors 50% to 70% of the net sales price. We handle all of the details of each transaction (listing descriptions, photos, sales tracking, shipping, insurance, etc.). Please contact us through the eBay Messaging system for more information.
