Estate sale find.
Nice looking. Striated brown. Gold plated trim with a wide cap band,
Sheaffer Crest 500 twist action mechanism, I put 0.7mm lead in because I had some on hand but what I was reading suggested using 0.9mm. I couldn’t lift out the eraser with the tweezers I have but needs to be pulled out and replaced.
The earlier models had the white dot, this does not.
I tried different angels and lighting to try and show the surface. Was not easy but whatever blemishes are there should show up. There is also an imprint on the cap, very hard to read, “W, A, Sheaffer Pen Co. Fort Madison, Iowa, U.S.A. FA. 500”
