43rd Light Infantry Colchester Christmas Card Battle of Toulouse 1814
Description:
This is an original regimental Christmas and New Year greetings card from the 43rd Light Infantry, Colchester, dating to the early 20th century.
The card is bound with a ribbon and bears the regimental crest on the cover. Inside, it carries a printed seasonal message:
“With All Good Wishes for Christmas and the New Year from the Officers.”
The opposite page features a colour illustration of The Battle of Toulouse, April 10th, 1814, reproduced from an original watercolour by W. Heath. The battle was one of the last major actions of the Napoleonic Wars, in which the 43rd played a key role.
Condition Report:
The card shows age-related wear, including some spotting and browning around the edges, but the ribbon & crest remain well-preserved.
