Superb, antique, World War 1, commemorativewall plate by Grimwades of Stoke-on-Trent

Part of the Old Bill series, by cartoonist Bruce Bairnsfather, as featured in the 'Fragments from France' cartoons published weekly in The Bystander magazine during the First World War

Decorated with a picture of Old Bill eating plum and apple jam, with the words "When the 'ell is it goin' to be strawberry"

The printed mark on the back reads "Made by the girls of Staffordshire during the winter of 1917/18 when the 'boys' were in the trenches fighting for liberty and civilization"

There is a single, hairline crack, and a small chip to the back. It is crazed. Please examine photos carefully as these are part of the condition description
