This pendant features a 3/4-inch fossil snaggletooth shark (Hemipristis serra) tooth, sourced from a legacy collection of Miocene-Pliocene specimens. This compact size makes it ideal for younger collectors or those preferring subtle, everyday wear pieces.
The tooth is expertly wrapped with tarnish-resistant silver-plated wire for secure presentation, and resin coated for durability. It hangs on a black woven cord, measuring 21 inches and adjustable to 23 inches for comfortable wear.
Snaggletooth sharks earned their name from their distinctive hooked upper teeth, perfectly adapted for gripping slippery prey. These prehistoric predators, closely related to modern weasel sharks, patrolled warm coastal waters 5-15 million years ago. Despite its smaller size, this specimen displays the characteristic curved crown and serrated edges that make Hemipristis serra instantly recognizable to fossil enthusiasts.
Please Note: Each tooth is a genuine, one-of-a-kind fossil specimen. Variations in color (from gray to tan), serration preservation, and minor surface wear are expected and reflect millions of years of natural fossilization.
