This is a fine and rare Kangxi period Famille Verte (Wucai) brush pot (bitong) from the Qing Dynasty (1662–1722).
• Material: Porcelain with overglaze enamel decoration (famille verte / wucai).
• Design: The brush pot features open panels (“开光”) decorated with figural scenes (scholars, attendants, and children) and bird-and-flower motifs in alternating reserves.
• Colors: Characteristic Kangxi famille verte palette with green, turquoise, iron-red, yellow, and black enamels on a white ground.
• Period: Qing Dynasty, Kangxi reign (1662–1722).
• Condition: Visible wear consistent with age, minor glaze fritting and enamel loss in areas (please see detailed photos). No major cracks or repairs noted.
• Size: 19.7cmx14cm
• Provenance: From a private collection in the United States.
This type of famille verte brush pot was highly prized by scholars in the Kangxi period, both for practical studio use and as a decorative collector’s piece.
