The tray is in excellent condition with only some light scratching and dents from age and use. I'm guessing this is used as an inkwell as I could find nothing else like it on the web. It has a solid brass 1 1/8" diameter raised piece with edges that looks as if it would hold a small bottle of ink. It's about 5" long and 3" wide.
