The coin is dedicated to the theater, created in 1917 in Kyiv with the support of the Central Council as the Ukrainian National Theater, which united the actors of various theatrical corpses. The first state theater of Ukraine toured with financial support from the government. The performances were in theaters of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Ekaterinoslav. The corpses included the leading Ukrainian artists: M. Zankovetska, V. Lyubart, A. Polyanska, G. Marinych, B. Romanytsky, as well as talented youth. The formation of the Ukrainian theater took place against the backdrop of complex socio-political events, the constant change of government that affected its development, became the cause of reorganizations, changes in names (State folk theater, Ukrainian folk theater, People's Theater) and places of residence (since 1931 the theater was working in Zaporozhye, and from the autumn of 1944 till now - in Lviv).
On the obverse of the coin is located: on the background of the theatrical wings - the Small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which the inscriptions: UKRAINE and the year of issue of the coin 2017 (on the left); in the center on the mirror background there is a theater building, underneath the inscriptions: NATIONAL ACADEMIC UKRAINIAN DRAMATIC / THEATER / NAME / MARIYA ZANKOVETSKIYA and the face value of FIVE HILLS (below the semicircle); to the right is the logo of the Banknote-Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.
On the reverse of the coin in the frame of the theatrical wings a portrait of Maria Zankovetska is placed, to the left of which is the inscription: 100 YEARS and the names of cities and years of the beginning of their work in them: KYIV / 1917 / ZAPORIZHYA / 1931 / Lviv / 1944 / FIRST NATIONAL / UKRAINIAN; on the theatrical stage a mirrored inscription - THEATER and below the name / Mariya ZANKOVETSKOI.
