Collection of photographs by Eugène Atget selected by the American photographer Berenice Abbott on the occasion of the first one-man exhibition organized by Julien Levy and Abbott at the Weyhe Gallery in New York (Parr/Badger I, Page 127). Introduction by Camille Recht on Atget's work and his approach to photography, the controversies of the time regarding photography and painting, as well as comparisons to cultural greats of his time like Villon, Zola, d'Aurevilly. The ninety-six full page collotypes at rear with folding plate listing the titles. Text in German. Binding with light wear along edges, rubbed with light smudging. Title page with penciled name and light traces of erased pencil entry. Block lightly age-toned, in margins around collotypes. Good to very good condition.
