1/6 PLATE DAGUERREOTYPE - A SWEET GIRL WITH PIGTAILS INSIDE FULL CASE & RARE MAT - First of all, this sixth plate daguerreotype comes from the Yann Maille collection; Yann was an amazing longtime collector of 19th Century photography. You are considering a fabulous likeness taken of a young girl who is captured in this vignetted portrait wearing her hair in sweet pigtails and tied off with ribbons. Note the rare sixth plate mat used over this image and how the plate rests in a rare case with Phoenix motif. CONDITION: Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of this cased images and as part of my description. The sixth plate daguerreotype has been resealed with P90 Plus archival tape and fitted with a new sheet of cover glass. The image has excellent contrast, tonal range and fantastic overall sharpness. Other than some scattered dust and a few stains on the background there are no wipes or damage whatsoever. The full case has a nicely restored leather hinge, the working clasp and a stunning red velvet pillow. I will carefully ship this item to the winning bidder by way of Priority Mail.
