Vintage WORKING Rare 1980 Battlestar Galactica Space Vertibird Toy by MATTEL with instructions!

These sets are very rare as they never made to last nearly half a century.
The Battlestar Galactica Space Vertibird was a Mattel toy released in 1979, inspired by the popular TV series. It featured a Colonial Viper spaceship as the flying vehicle, replacing the usual helicopter. The playset included accessories like a Recon Vehicle, Space Probe Base, and Tower. It was a VertiBird set, meaning it used the same basic control and flying mechanism as other VertiBird toys, but with a Battlestar Galactica theme.
Mattel produced a number of VertiBird sets, this being released in conjunction w/the 1978-1979 Battlestar Galactica TV series. Similar in design to other VertiBird sets, this differs in that instead of helicopter body, VertiBird is Colonial Viper spaceship w/propeller on top and set comes w/Recon Vehicle, Space Probe Base and Tower, Cylon Raider targets and INSTRUCTIONS!!
