So it's only logical that after the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, publishers should turn their attention to DJing as the next inspiration for a videogame. And DJ Star is the first such game to hit the streets... While the console manufacturers have to produce a turntable peripheral before they can produce a DJing game, DJ Star makes use of the DS' touchscreen to emulate the turntablism experience. In DJ Star, players can create their own dance tracks with just a few touches of the DS Stylus. Then, in career mode, they can begin by playing small local parties, and advance through the ranks of the DJing community up to trans-global megastar status. The secret to successful DJing is to keep the groove going, and the public on the dancefloor. And so it is in DJ Star - users prepare the mix by beatmatching the next track while the public hear the current track. But it's not just about keeping the rhythm smooth, you need to add effects, scratch and prepare a light show to keep the crowd entertained. You have 40 charts smashes, plus your own compositions to keep the rhythm pumping and the dancefloor jumping. Mini games require you to respond to the audience's wishes, and keep them happy by signing autographs, otherwise you'll end up dodging the tomatoes they throw at you to indicate their discontent. Players wishing to hone their mixmaster skills can play in "free" mode, without being judged, before they take on career mode.
