Catch the Birds

Acrylic and spray paint on canvas

24x16

symbolizes the daily struggle of artists to

catch the bird

Which symbolizes food, money

And sometimes you have to extend yourself in multiple directions just to be able to catch enough birds

as your life force literally drains out (your chakra)

but at the end of the day you're still happy because you're doing what you love to do even if you don't always catch a bird...

catch the birds

History of artist

What's the meaning or story behind Wukatoe's cat character?

Wukatoe's cat character, often appearing in their "Rusty Cat Art" and "Rusty Rattle Cats" series, holds a deeply personal meaning for the artist.

The cat character is a tribute to Wukatoe's mother, who passed away from breast cancer after a 10-year battle. Wukatoe's mother was a devoted cat lover, described as a "crazy cat lady" who at one point cared for around 40 cats.

The act of painting and hiding these cat artworks throughout the Arizona valley serves as a way for Wukatoe to honor their mother's memory. Each time a person finds one of Wukatoe's cats, it not only celebrates the artist's mother but also potentially brings a smile to the finder's face. Wukatoe emphasizes the importance of these cats to them, urging those who find them to cherish them.

Wukatoe is a street artist,  based in Arizona, who creates cat-themed graffiti and sticker art. They are known for organizing art scavenger hunts in various Arizona cities, where people can find and claim their works.
