Vintage Graduated Slab Nugget Turquoise and Heishi Shell Necklace

Graduated multi colored turquoise slab nuggets

Total weight (see photos) = 112 grams 36 stones Length is 14" as tied (there is no clasp, it came to me tied as is) so undone, the length would be approximately 28" this would be adjustable with the tie. It would also be easy to add a clasp of any kind.

I took some measurements of the smallest and the largest stones and of some random ones along the graduated strand to give you an idea of the size and the variance. The graduation is subtle from stone to stone but the difference in the smallest and largest is substantial. They are all of similar shape: oblong/oval slabs, irregular/imperfectly cut with the natural texture and matrix and indentations. I am by no means an expert on turquoise but, as far as I can tell, and based on my research, this turquoise seems to be as about as 'natural' as it comes in jewelry-not treated or commercial. The graduation is symmetrical.

Measurements are 'approximate' but as accurate as I could possibly get them. I was careful and took my time with them.

Smallest pieces at top : 1 cm x 2 cm

Some pieces in middle of strand:1.5 cm x 3 cm 2 cm x 2.5 cm3 cm x 2 cm

Largest at center bottom: 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm

I can not overstate enough how outstanding and beautiful the shades of turquoise colors are and how exquisite and extraordinary the color variance that exists among these stones. Sea-foam green, tiny amounts of lemon/lime green to deep blue 'classic' turquoise shades. I have looked at hundreds and hundreds of turquoise stones in my research to try and find similar turquoise and I have asked numerous sources for information on these stones and although i haven't been able to determine their source with certainty, I can tell you that I have not been able to find anything comparable to these stones in terms of dimension, complexity, variety and beauty. Yes, beauty is abstract and subjective, but that is my opinion :)

Embedded within the matrix of many of the stones is iron pyrite or flecks which are indicative of natural, genuine and true turquoise. A very desirable feature which gives it additional beauty, luster and matrix complexity. I tried to capture this as best as I could in the photo gallery.
