I. History:
a. Barbie:
Mattel has sold over a billion Barbie dolls, making it the company's largest and most profitable line. The brand has expanded into a multimedia franchise since 1984, including video games, animated films, television/web series, and a live-action film.
b. Fashionistas line:
Barbie Fashionistas is a doll line that started in 2009 and is still ongoing due to there being hundreds of Barbie Fashionistas products over more than a decade. The first Barbie Fashionistas dolls were released in October 2009. There are seven poseable dolls that are based on different personality traits. The current line is not on Made To Move bodies (M.T.M), but hobbyists find them easy to swap and many purchasers have done so.
Mattel advertises: "Designed to reflect the world kids see today, this diverse line of Barbie Fashionistas dolls showcases bright and trendy styles that inspire endless storytelling possibilities."
II. For sale:
Barbie Fashionistas Doll #234 with Brown Hair down in soft waves.
a. Model Overview:
Wearing Sequined Purple Bubble Dress with Satiny Skirt, Silvery Necklace and matching Silver Ankle strap Heels.
b. Model Features:
New Facemold for 2024. Durable fashion pieces. Hair is is high quality and easy to comb or restyle.
c. Model Finish:
Beutiful Roman Greco skin tone, make up is very well done smokey purple eye shadow matches her matte lipstick and compliments her bown eyes and oval shaped face.
d. Opinion:
A buyer messaged me the doll has a striking resemblance to
Ariana Grande as Galinda from the movie Wicked. I don't really see that, but I have included an image of the singer/actress in a similar strapless bodice for comparison purposes.
The outfit, doll, and accessories are well-made and of good quality. I really like the strapless bodice that shines with a sequined print. It just jumps out at you and ties the whole 12" model together.
My only complaints are that Matel packaged the doll in a cheesy box that collectors frown on and that I am not a fan of the dress's elastic bottom, even though it gives off the purple bubble look the deseigner was aiming for.
