Terms and Conditions


Our Terms and Conditions policy language exists to explain what you may expect of us - and when it comes to supporting your order, what we expect of you.


The Nutshell:


We want you to have a good experience, and we'll do our level best -- within our locus of control -- to ensure that this can happen.


Item Description:


Photos provide crucial details about the item's condition -- please review them and the item's description thoroughly before making a purchase.


Feel free to ask any questions before buying.


Service Levels:


Our products are not saving lives or time sensitive by default, and our USPS trips are conducted via bicycle, electric scooter, EV carshare, public transit, and/or on foot.


Within this context, we've determined that a 5 business day SLA is optimal for maintaining our a strategically fossil-free approach to commerce. We understand that this isn't what everybody else is doing, and thankfully, we serve a growing clientele who appreciates that we're *not* doing what everybody else is doing. Unless you communicate otherwise at the time of purchase, we will trust that our posted turnaround time is acceptable to you.


We also understand that some purchases are time sensitive (for you!), and we're glad to accommodate exceptions wherever we can:


Nice to have sooner: If you'd prefer to receive this item before our posted SLA, please drop us a message at the time you place your order so we know that you're watching the clock.


Need to have sooner: If the purchase you're considering is time sensitive (gift, travel, event-specific, work deadline, etc), please communicate your time constraints before ordering so we can confirm that we'll be able to get it out the door on your timeline. If we can't do it, we won't say yes (and we won't slow things down for you, either). If it doesn't work this time, we'd love to have your business for items that are less urgent.


Whoops: If you didn't check our SLA before making your purchase (and are now feeling a time crunch a couple days in), please gently (kindly) nudge us to request a favor, and we'll do what we can to help you out.


Shipping Terms:


Packages are ground shipped within 5 business days using exclusively secondhand materials.


Local pickup is available in Minneapolis. Please contact us to make arrangements if you'd like to pursue this option.


While USPS does not guarantee delivery dates, they did substantially reduce shipping times for ground service when they rolled out 'Ground Advantage' in 2023, and we now estimate and ship our packages almost exclusively using this service.

Gaps happen. When it comes to online commerce, there will be times when circumstances beyond our control interfere with business as usual. When that happens, we'll do our level best to work out a thoughtful resolution to the problem at hand.


Packaging:


Packaging is something that gets your product to you safely: we do our best to pack responsibly, both for the product and for the planet, and we use our secondhand-sourced shipping supplies judiciously.


We've been delivering 100% post-consumer product offerings - packed in 100% reused material - via lowest-impact shipping operations since early 2020.


If receiving an intact product with transit-damaged packaging would ruin the purchasing experience for you, please reach out to arrange local pickup (in zip code 55403) before purchasing or bidding on this item.


Missing or Damaged Goods:


We ship several hundred orders each year using 100% secondhand packaging, and our successful delivery rate is north of 99.9%. In the rare event that your purchase's packaging fails and the product is damaged, you will be issued an immediate and full refund.


If tracking indicates that an item has been delivered to your address and you are unable to find it, please check with your postal carrier/local office, your neighbors, and any security cam footage before contacting us about it.


Returns:


Sometimes, it doesn't even make sense to return a problematic item, so we ask that you check in for prior approval to return any item within 30 days of delivery so that we can figure out the best solution together.


Items approved for refund are to be returned in original condition (i.e. as pictured in the listing, including any original, unopened packaging), and must include all components.


A 20% restocking fee applies to capricious returns. Here, we define 'capricious' as entitlement to return a product that was delivered as listed/described and yet somehow failed to meet expectations that the buyer had not chosen to share at any point prior to purchase.


We retain the option to deduct shipping fees from refunds.


As a condition for approval to return a product, we expect you'll provide tracking and insurance for the shipment. Doing this ensures that you'll be able to promptly file a claim in the event that the inventory is damaged while on its way back to us.


Expedited Shipping:


We are open to supporting overnight, two day, or three day defined delivery shipping for those prepared to pay private carrier prices.


If you have a corporate shipping account, we'll gladly coordinate with you to receive and print shipping labels for the shipping service of your choice. FedEx and UPS may both be dispatched to our location for pickup. In these circumstances, the price you've paid for shipping will be absorbed by us as a handling/service fee for the time it takes us to support this exception request.


If you do not have your own shipping account, please use online estimating tools (FedEx/UPS) to estimate third party shipping costs, and communicate your shipping budget when you request expedited services. Here's how:

Estimate product weight from our listing.


Estimate package dimensions generously (package dimensions can cause shipping costs to fluctuate wildly; we use secondhand boxes and will use the best available + enough filler to ensure your product reaches you intact).


Add 24 hours to the pickup date to account for fixed carrier pickup times and our own pre-existing commitments.


Add 15% to the carrier's charge to help manage estimating risk and/or our costs to support expedited in-house turnaround (packaging time, courier costs, etc.)


Local Pickup (and 3PL services for local pickup):


We're glad to have buyers retrieve their purchases from our Minneapolis location (our 5 day SLA will remain the same unless negotiated in advance).


In addition, items listed for 'Local pickup only' can be easily packed/shipped for you by third party service providers. UPS and FedEx both offer this option, and Cedar Box Company is a local company offering national/global dispatch.


We'd be glad to provide product weight & item dimensions on request, should you need them for a third party estimate/quotation.


As the buyer, you are responsible for insuring 'Local pickup' items that you choose to have shipped via 3rd party.


If you choose to return an item once it has been delivered, you will be expected to also insure, track, and fund the return shipment.


Fine Print:


'Fine Print' is where we describe our boundaries and expectations as they relate to how you choose to engage as a buyer.


While the buyer is *usually* right (and we'll bend over backward to make sure you receive what you've purchased), we are not receptacles for the emotional garbage of strangers. Here are a couple examples where we've set boundaries:


We are happy to speed up your order to the extent that we are able when you've helped us understand that it is time sensitive for you. On the other hand, commands/demands and/or other aggressive/combative/coercive/controlling communication will earn an immediate block, may result in a cancelled order, and may be reported to eBay in keeping with their Abusive Buyer Policy. Obviously, we prefer to make the sale, and will extend the benefit of the doubt where possible.


We welcome helpful 'for future reference' input (if the packaging cracked open in transit, we obviously want to know about that so we know not to use that tape/packaging material again). On the other hand, if you choose to shame, scold, and/or punish an internet stranger (us), we will fully disengage after we've confirmed that your purchased item has reached you in as-advertised condition, and, when merited, we will also report the interaction to eBay in keeping with the platform's Abusive Buyer Policy.


Many of us have been conditioned to expect immediate gratification, and our model is not designed for that. Before concluding that slow shipping = bad and/or lazy seller, please check your gut response against our transaction's terms and conditions.


And, of course, if you read the T&C and find that we've dropped the ball w/r/t the expectations we've set here, we want to be appropriately accountable! In these cases, approaching us for help making things right will be met with the urgency and attention it deserves.
