"Child Is Father of the Man", the debut album by Blood Sweat & Tears, is one of the finest albums of the late 60's. Released in February of 1968, it was part of a period, inspired by the Beatles "Sgt. Pepper" album, that resulted in great experimentation and merging of styles and instruments in a way that broke away from the mid-60s pop and rock. Founder Al Kooper fused folk, rock, blues and jazz, including strings and horns. It wasn't a huge commercial success but had two classics penned by Kooper, "I Can't Quit Her" and "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know", and paved the way for the hit strewn future of BS&T.
