This is an early wheel thrown redware pottery ovoid jug from the 1780-1820s era...nice applied strap handle with sunken circle near bottom....odd flared lip...unglazed footed base ring....redware body with dark manganese slip glaze....only 6 1/2"tall....Excellent condition with only one small shallow chip on edge of flared lip; no other damage.  A nice clean jug that came from an old house in Lancaster, Pennsylvania along with other 1700s Colonial period bottles and pottery...........
