The wool comes from farmers in various settlements in the Himalayan regions, who are able to raise their small herds in a much more species-appropriate manner. For example, even the combing of the wool is carried out with respect for animal welfare.

The item offered here comes from a small factory in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is still handmade using ancient, traditional weaving techniques. This centuries-old craft and its heritage should be preserved in this day and age of machine production. The people behind these beautiful and lovingly crafted products are particularly important. All of them, mostly women, are members of the Dalits, the so-called "untouchables," and thus the most socially disadvantaged and disadvantaged sections of society. The wool is dyed using natural dyes. The powders are weighed using a traditional mechanical balance and then mixed accordingly.
