An exceptionally rare CBM C-108 calculator in good working order.
Complete with the original box and lower poly insert, the machine is utterly clean.
Released in 1971, this calculator features eight separate VFD tubes, and the famous OMRON Alpha Chipset. The chipset is dated 1971 and made by Nortec Electronics for Omron. These are the ceramic and gold ALPHA1, ALPHA2, and ALPHA3 devices.
The pictures of the chipset and VFD tubes are my own, and from this calculator.
The keyboard uses red relays, the included picture is of the actual keyboard reed relays in this calculator.
All keys, digits, segments, and LEDs work as they should.
The mains lead and plug are original, the plug should ideally be changed to comply with modern safety standards. A replacement plug will be supplied.
The box is original and in good, yet 50 year-old condition. The lower poly insert is great. The only things missing are the upper poly insert and an instruction manual.
The original cost was $199.95 (£84) in 1971, the equivalent of $1557 in 2024!
Thank you to Vintage Calculators for the spec sheet.
