From the Magnes Museum and the Jewish-American Hall of Fame Medals Collection, is this 2016 Commemorative Medal of Jewish Astronauts Jeffrey Hoffman and Judith Resnick.
Designed by sculptor Eugene Daub, and produced by the Medallic Art Co. of New York, this is # 37 of a limited series of 130 examples produced in antique bronze.
It is a trapezoid shape measuring: 1.75" top to bottom, 1 7/8" across at its widest, and is 3/16" thick.
Weight: 71 grams.
Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman is depicted repairing the Hubble telescope. The remote-control mechanical arm that Dr. Judith Resnik specialized in can be seen to his left. Dr. Resnick is portrayed holding her helmet; Haley's comet - which she was going to photograph- is in the background.
